A Steering Committee guides program and organizational development at CNI, while fiduciary responsibilities are vested in the CEOs and boards of the sponsoring organizations, the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and EDUCAUSE. ARL and EDUCAUSE each appoint three members to the Steering Committee. CNI's Executive Director and the heads of ARL and EDUCAUSE also appoint three additional "at large" members. The CEOs of ARL and EDUCAUSE and the Executive Director of CNI serve as ex officio members of the Steering Committee. Richard P. West of the California State University system serves as the chair.
